Struggling families and children of Happyland

Donate Now

In one of the poorest slum communities of Tondo called HAPPYLAND, we have about 50 children age 6-12 years old swimming almost everyday in the polluted and dirty waters of the Manila Bay port area to collect discarded plastics just to earn around 30 PHP (0.58 USD) to augment their family’s daily income of 90 PHP (1.75 USD) earned from peeling garlics to be sold in a nearby commercial district.

We came up with a project to establish a SHELTER OF JOY and FEEDING PROGRAM CENTER. This center caters to children during the day so that we can help and encourage them not to collect plastic garbage from the sea. The plan is to convince the parents to bring their children to the center in the morning for breakfast. Thereafter, we will arrange for transportation to bring them to school and back for lunch. The children will stay at the center till 5pm, giving them ample time to rest, study, play and perform formative activities.

Our aim is to create a place where the children from Happyland can exercise their right to live in a family-focused, loving and nurturing environment, with proper education and equal opportunities in life. We also wish to empower every household in Happyland.

We have started construction work of the SHELTER OF JOY. However, we will still be needing further donation to help us finish this 3-year project. Please send your donations to the Children’s Fund.
